NCAAC Fun Day

On the 17th July NCAAC will be running a fun day for all gymnasts and gymnbugs at Milton Mallsor football club from 11:00am-3:00pm to help raise funds to buy new equipment for the club. There will be a BBQ (which you will need to purchase tickets for beforehand), a bar and a variety of fun activities for the children to take part in.

We will also be selling balloons, to take part in a balloon race which will be released on the day!
Parents will also recieve the opportunity to set up their own stalls, with a small charge of £5 which will go towards funding for new equipment.

We hope to see you there.

Exciting coaching opportunity

Due to an increase of gymnasts wanting to join the club, we are looking to recruit some new coaches. Do you think you can spare an hour or two every week to become a member of our team? Teaching such a brilliant sport to lots of children is so rewarding in so many ways. For example, seeing the most timid of children let go of your hand for the first time across the beam or helping a child do forward rolls and cartwheels is what keeps our coaches coming back for more.
Do you like a challenge? Can you see yourself working with children? Even fancy trying a new sport? Maybe you used to do gymnastics yourself as a child...or maybe you wanted to? If this is you, and you would like to get involved, please contact the club either by Facebook, email...www.ncaacgymnastics.com or come and speak to one of the coaches. Full training will be given, and you will be assigned a "mentor" to work alongside.
We look forward to hearing from you and welcoming you to our our team!

Congratulations to Kevin Flynn on receiving the Nik Stewart honorary lifetime member of British Gymnastics

A huge well done to Kevin Flynn who received the Nik Stewart honorary lifetime member of British gymnastics. He works very hard for both his club NCAAC and English gymnastics, and very much deserves this award.

This Honorary Life Member Award is dedicated to the late Nik Stuart MBE, former European Silver medallist and nine times British Men’s Champion. This award recognises outstanding service to BG and gymnastics at a National level for a minimum of ten years.

Well done Kevin!

Logo Competition

Congratulations to the winner of our Logo competition.

Macy Van Hoof designed this beautiful Logo which will be used for all our new merchandise and clothing. Well done Macy!

Holiday clubs

We are running a holiday club this year during the School Holidays. Why not come along to one or all of the days and bring friends or relatives with you? The cost of the club is £15 for one day or £25 for two.

Just print off an application form from the "Holiday Club" section on our website and send it along with a cheque to the address given. Alternatively, you can pop along to the gym during our opening hours to pick up a form.

We look forward to seeing you!

British Gymnastics Challenge Cup - Amelia Birkett

On Sunday 22nd of June, a very nervous Amelia competed in the British Gymnastics Challenge Cup at Guildford. She competed alongside 48 other gymnasts from around the country on vault bars beam and floor.

She started on floor where she was competing a tucked double back somersault for the first time. Unfortunately, nerves got the better of her and she slightly under-rotated and she just put her hands down. Other than that, her double twist was spotted and all her leaps and jumps were performed beautifully. It was a very good start.

Next, she performed a piked Tsukahara on vault where she nailed her landing to gain her highest ever score of 13.00. This made her the 4th highest vault scorer of the competition although the difference between her and the gold medal was only 0.45.

Bars ran smoothly with another new skill being performed for the 1st time. The toe on to handstand went without a hitch allowing her to swing nicely into her full twisting dismount.

Finally beam. She had 2 new skills on this apparatus and was quite nervous. Unfortunately, the nerves got the better of her for one of these skills and she fell on her aerial, but the 1.5 twisting dismount which was also new was nailed on landing.

Overall, this was a great experience and a great day for Amelia, and everyone at the gym was very proud of her for her performance. Well done.

Balloon Race

Congratulations to Thursday morning GymBug Callum Dixon on winning the NCAAC Gymnastics 150th anniversary Balloon race. Callum's balloon was released along with the others from the Gym on 7th December and made it 782miles away to Austria.

Some of the runners up made it as far as the South of France and West Germany. NCAAC would like to say a big thank you to everyone who contributed.

Gymmark

NCAAC take great care of all of our gymnasts and in 2007, we were awarded Gymmark, which has been developed by British Gymnastics in partnership with Sport England and the Home Country Sports Councils to provide recognition to clubs who are committed to providing quality gymnastic experiences. Gaining Gymark accreditation means that we are recognised as a safe, effective and child friendly club providing a service in the community that children, young people and their parents/carers can trust.
